Combudo C-CLASS Combat Ju Jitsu Rules:

*ATTENTION!!! NO HEAD STRIKING IN C-CLASS

‘Combat Ju-Jitsu’ is Unified Amateur Rules – mixed martial arts in a Gi on the Tatami Mats.

C Class CJJ: 1 x 3 min round with 2 min overtime.

Scoring Criteria: (All rules are contested and judged using the modern 10 must style scoring). Championship matches with 3 x CBO Judges, 1 x Referee and 2 x Match Inspectors.

10:10 Draw, 10:9 Win , 10:8 Win, 10:7 Out Classed.

This is a very quick overview:
Combudo CJJ C Class Rules: 1 x 3 minute round plus 2 minute extension if a draw. If still a draw then the lightest competitor wins.
Combines Striking, Knockdowns, Throws, Grappling, Submissions with Gi, 7oz MMA Gloves, Shin/Instep protectors and Tatami all in one safe but challenging format. This is a hybrid martial arts competition based on effective techniques with the tradition of the budo arts. You can win by way of Knockdown, KO, TKO, Submission, out class and points. Weight Divisions:

* Competitors will weigh in wearing their Gi.

Men’s: -55kg-60kg – 65kg – 70kg – 75kg – 80kg – 85kg – 90kg – 95kg -100kg+
Women’s: -45kg-50kg -55kg-60kg -65kg-70kg -75kg -80kg-95kg-100kg+
Masters: 50 years old plus
Cadets: 13-15 years old (Limited Rules)
Youths: 16-18 years old (Limited Rules)
At Combudo we have worked hard to bring the context of self defence principles into the forefront by using mixture of striking, throwing and submission with rules and strategies such as;

The Gi = Most self defence situations involves the use of clothing which can work for and against you, clothing is a weapon and a defence.

The above rules set out to add the self defence context along with the other rules to facilitate safety, action and sporting challenge.

Competition Time:
1 x 3 minute round with 2 minutes if a draw. In the event it is still a draw then the win will go to the lightest competitor.

Competition Area:
8m x 8m combat area with a 1m red zone around the combat area followed by an extra 1m safety area.

Officials:

1 x Referee, 3 x Judges and 2 Match Supervisors.

Attire:

Competitors will wear competition standard Gi’s, Black 7oz MMA Gloves, Groin Guards, Mouth Guards and Black Elasticated Shin & Instep. Red or Blue Belts

Techniques Allowed:

Closed fist punches to the body and legs.

Knee Strikes to the body and legs.

Kicks to the body and legs.

Throws and Takedowns.

Submissions

Illegal Techniques:

Head punches, Knees to the head, Elbows, Joint Strikes, Head-Butts, All striking to the head on the ground, Groin Strikes, Eye Gouging, Fish Hooking, Attacking less than four fingers, Heel Hooks, Rotation of the legs during a submission attack, Foot stomps, Spiking, Soccer Kicks, Timidity and Unintelligent Defence.

Ways to Win:

KO (10 count), TKO (referee stoppage), Submission or points decision.

*Any complaints or decision disagreements must be placed in writing and sent to the Combat Budo Organisation. The organisation and the appointed officials will not tolerate any abusive or aggressive behaviour from any competitors, coaches or supporters.

*These rules are the property of the Official Combat Budo Organisation and with a written agreement in advance of the event certain techniques can be omitted but NOT added in order to comply with local laws, codes, athletic commissions or regulations. *There will be awards, medals and championship belts in all divisions. Plus Fighting Spirit and Coach Awards.

Notes for Cadets (age 13 to 15)

Due to the safeguarding policies of the CBO cadets aged 13 to over 15 will compete under our CJJ Safe rules. 

Time: 1 x 2 min round with 1 min left extension round if a draw.

Attire: Competition Gi. Black 4oz mma gloves and black elastic style shin and insteps. 

No striking to the head at all. No striking on the ground. 

Positions and pins only on the ground with the scoring going to the most effective, dominant and mat control techniques displayed. 

If at any point the referee sees an issue of safety then the referee will stop the match.

Fouls:

In the event of a foul the referee will stop the action and give a Yellow Card on the first warning, if a foul is made again a Red Card will be issued which will result in the match being awarded to the opponent.

With accidental fouls the injured party will be given the chance to recover and in the event of no recovery the match will be awarded to the fouled opponent.
